MADAM NIGHTINGALE

Phaedra Gunn (she/they) as their synthpop alter-ego ‘Madam Nightingale’ won first prize at the Sounds of St Kilda Battle of the Bands at TheatreWorks in February 2020 at their debut performance. ‘Madam Nightingale’ is currently on the Australasian fringe & arts festival circuit, having performed at various festivals including NAFF, FUSE & Melbourne Fringe in 2022, Melbourne, Newcastle, Dubbo & Sydney Fringes in 2023 & Adelaide Fringe with rapper Cloutie Will & Newcastle Fringe solo in 2024.  In 2023 their performances were nominated for Best Show at Dubbo Fringe & runner-up for the Artistic Merit award at Newcastle Fringe.

Their Debut single ‘Dance With Me’ (below) was released 7th May 2023 - sonically inspired by the horn section in ‘Sir Duke’ by Stevie Wonder from his masterpiece album ‘Songs In The Key Of Life’, ‘Dance With Me’ is a bassy clavinet-tinged funky dance number, picked up for selective dance club distribution in the US & winning RSOM’s best songs of that year. This was followed by Sophomore single ‘Feelings’ (see here) released 29th July 2023 - A traditional pop ballad, ‘Feelings’ was recently picked up for selective lounge club distribution in the US & was also shortlisted for RSOM’s songs of 2023. Both songs charted on the Wettest 100 of 2023, the alt/avant garde version of the Hottest 100.

Looking forward to performing at Anywhere Fringe with Electronic Synth-pop producer 'Me From The Future' & touring selected fests with emerging theatrical rapper ‘Cloutie Will’ in 2024/5, 'Madam Nightingale’s debut album is planned for US release in 2026.
